Last week TRL’s Mike Pittman and Dean Beaumont were invited to present on the future of transport at the 11th Annual CoPart Advisory Board at the Four Seasons hotel in Hampshire.
Mike took to the stage first, updating the audience on TRL projects such as:
MOVE_UK, focused on advancing efficient data collection for Automated Driving Systems
HelmUK, the world’s first HGV Platooning Trials in a live commercial setting
StreetWise, delivering an automated personal mobility solution for London commuters
and the Smart Mobility Living Lab London – a real world testbed for connected and autonomous vehicles.
Dean followed up by talking about the investigations aspect of total loss collisions, including how technology such as CCTV and Event Data Recorders is advancing, and how it can be used to assist with investigations.
The event was hosted by CoPart, who recover and remarket total loss vehicles on behalf of insurance companies. They are a global auction house, selling over 400,000 vehicles in the UK alone. In attendance at the event were representatives from 21 of the UK’s top 25 insurance companies.
